The ten principles give by Dave are very effective and make for a very healthy work environment, as well as high quality relationships outside the workplace. Using these ten principles of employee engagement over time reduces the attrition rates in manpower intensive businesses. Business outsourcing and security multinationals are classic examples where the attrition rates is directly proportional to the culture within the organization.

Tim:
Thanks for you comment. That is a powerful line: The distance from intention to results may be greater than it seems.

David -

I'm in heartfelt agreement with your 10 principles. The one that rings most true for me -- and for the many managers who responded to my Engagement Survey two weeks ago -- is that "Engagement must create results that matter."
Right on. And the irony? 85% of my survey respondents said, "Yes, I take actions to increase/improve my employees' engagement." Only 17% said they saw a satisfactory level of engagement among same employees.

The distance from intention to result may be greater than it seems.

Thanks.
