Buying Happiness

March 11, 2008 by diehappy 1 Comment

You can’t buy happiness

Some people find it easy to be happy and others don’t, even though they have plenty of conditions for happiness. You can buy conditions for happiness, but you can’t buy happiness. It’s like playing tennis. you can’t buy the joy of playing tennis at a store. You can buy the ball and the racket, but you can’t buy the joy of playing…You have to cultivate happiness; you cannot buy it at the store. (Thich Nhat Hanh, The Art of Power, p.81)

How to be HAPPY

March 5, 2008 by diehappy 1 Comment

There is just something about the “how to” article that grabs our attention and offers us a sense of hope. We believe someone has found the answer and that if we just follow their 11 steps we will be on the road to positive relationships, unlimited wealth, and eternal happiness.

There is a how to be happy wiki. Click here to go to the wiki and see a happy person enjoying nature and an interesting tree. I guess we feel if we follow the 25 steps we will be just like her. By the way just to save you having to scroll all the way to #25 it is: say hello to every one with a smile.

I am smiling but perhaps we will be even happier if we just give up the “how to” and settle into full acceptance of who we are, where we are, whenever we are there. Which if you think about it…is pretty much all the time!

It is not my intention to steer you to a commercial website but I thought the symphony of laughter was well done even if it was a little cheesy. Click here to conduct your laughter group!

Happiness: Are you ticking or ticked off?

March 3, 2008 by diehappy Leave a Comment

timer.pngWhat ticks you off?

Do you hear life ticking away or are you a ticking time bomb that keeps exploding into anger, frustration, resentment, and bitterness?

How many ticks until you find composure after upset?

How many ticks until you find tranquility after anger?

How many ticks until you find acceptance after resentment? How many ticks until you find savouring after bitterness?

The clock is ticking are you ticking like you should too?

To Be or To Do is Not the Question

Happiness is less about doing and more about being. I think you are due to bee.
