NBC obviously has engagement issues with two of their most talented employees Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno.
Many companies can have disengaged employees but when each employee has their own TV show it takes the statements around disengagement to a whole new level.
With multimillion dollar salaries money is not the engagement issue.
There has already been enough written on the situation and the employee’s responses. If you need some data or speculation just but Conan and Jay into a Google news search and you will find more information than you will ever need.
I would like to hear your perspective to any of these 5 questions::
- What caused the disengagement?
- What should Conan do?
- What should Jay do?
- What should NBC do?
- What would you do if you were in Conan’s situation?
1. Conan by himself is not heavy enough to sit and be funny for an hour every single night. No one is really. Jay wasn’t, yet he was a little heavier so he could do it a little better than Conan.
2. Quit being such a complainer and do something positive to save the situation. And get a “jury” that judges every joke he ever say before he say them on air.
3. Smile.
4. Pay the money and do what they feel like.
5. I would have taken the money AND my old emploryes and started another tv-show – better than the old one. Blow the people away. Do something new. Let the team behind American Dad and Family Guy be in on it. =) Use guest writers from The Daily Show. Make a SNL show that was as good as the old one in the early 90’s. Sketches, cartoons, political satire.
You can do a lot with that amount of money.
Jay Leno would not stand a chance.
Joni,
Some great responses here.
