I am glad you like the blog. I think design with the overall glut of information and the "attention economy" is becoming increasingly important.

Hi David!

How are you? Boy, I really, really LOVE your blog - I learn a lot from it.

Thanks for that last email you sent - hope you had a wonderful vacation! Spring break's always good! I was thinking, if we find 5 other folks willing to make a post once a week - then I think we have something to contribute. I'd love to do a "Monday Metaphor" post, for example. I'll mull over your comments over the weekend and will write longer. :) I'm sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner, because it's a busy week at work. :(

I just got the book UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN by Lidwell, Holden, and Butler, and I recommend it highly - or at least take a look at it in a bookstore. I'm a big design freak, and enjoy coming up with models that help me teach better. (Just added something in my blog)

Unfortunately, some folks in academia have said that stuff that I come up with doesn't really "sell" - that folks prefer the performance measurement/six sigma/lean thinking stuff more. While my training is in the operations research/decision sciences, I'm not sure if people really enjoy learning these, or because it's nice to know because it makes people feel intelligent throwing around technical jargon.

That's why one of my objectives is to develop and teach continuous systems improvement - for free - to folks who don't have resources for training seminars.

Oh well, as coach John Wooden said "Don't let what you can't do get in the way of what you can.... :)"

Apologies for the rant. ;)
