Happy New Year: Stay Engaged in 2008/2009

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

NO! I am not confused.

I celebrate 2 New Years’ Days.

Because I have been around school and university for most of my life it always feels that August is the close of the summer and a new year begins in September with the return to school.

January 1st is my calendar New Year’s Day while September 1st is my psychological and learning New Year’s Day.

I hope you’ll join me in making a New Year’s learning resolution and that this year will be full of learning, performance, enjoyment, energy, and engagement for you.

What an awesome idea - to celebrate September 1st as a New Year’s Day for learning. I will join you in this challenge!

I declare that I will spend the next year learning and enjoying life! I look forward to making mistakes, and then learning and growing from them. And having a great year!

    Lance,

I am glad you and a few others found the idea of today being New Year’s Day helpful.

My primary focus for this “new year” is on follow-through and follow-up.

    Ramya:
Perhaps we should start a society that believes New Year’s Day is September 1st. Of course we could also celebrate January 1st too. I am 9 days into the New Year and really enjoying it.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT enriches everyone in the workplace. It is not sucking out more discretionary effort from employees.

Authentic employee engagement must function for the benefit of all: employees, leaders, organizations, and customers.

Employees have higher levels of satisfaction and contribution. Leaders are connected with employees and engaged themselves. The organization is functioning the way it should and customers are receiving the service they deserve.

Ultimately everyone is getting results that matter to them.

When this occurs, employee engagement transforms into a more powerful force --- workplace engagement.
