CHANGE THIS for Employee Engagement

June 4, 2009 by David Zinger 3 Comments

Change This is one of my favorite sources of information. They offer short and well-written manifestos and other short works that provide information in engaging and informative ways. Last month’s May batch of manifestos offered 4 excellent sources for employee engagement.

Creative Elegance. Are you thinking of elegance when you think of employee engagement? Perhaps our short form of using EE for Employee Engagement may need to become EEE for Elegant Employee Engagement. This is a short manifesto by Matthew E. May, one of the world’s leading thinker on elegance.

The Small Revolution. I have written elsewhere about the power of the small and that small is the new significant. This manifesto outlines some of the key thoughts about small power and how we need to be focusing more on the small. I encourage you to read Linda Kaplan Thaler & Robin Koval’s manifesto.

Who’s Got Your Back. Keith Ferrazzi writes very well about relationships and this manifesto outlines some of the key ideas from his latest book on lifeline relationships to help you succeed and prevent failure.

Destination. This manifesto looked at how to get more discretionary work from employees. It was written by Ross Reck & Harry Paul and was written with a very tight and practical focus on engagement.

To conclude, determine small elegant enagement destinations while someone has your back.

David, thank you so much for recommending our Change This manifesto, The SMALL Revolution. We truly believe that the key to success, both personally and professionally is to reject the popular notion of “thinking big” and start shrinking our outlooks. By concentrating on life’s problems, one little thing at a time, we can truly make HUGE changes.

Good stuff. I’m a fan of ChangeThis.

I especially like the power of the small and agree that small is the new big.

I think the “who’s got your back test” is a very powerful check. It’s about vulnerability based trust. When you have that at work, people will go out on the limb. When you don’t, people are worried about basic survival.

I like the “who’s got your back test” too. It is a great line and title for Keith’s book.
