Leverage Stories to Heighten Employee Engagement
What? Peter Guber wrote, Tell to Win, loaded with stories to connect and persuade others with the hidden power of story. Stories are a powerful way to communicate the importance of engagement for employees and organizations.
Why? Our brains engage well with stories and stories are often more powerful than data dumps to change behavior. For employees to fully engage, employees must feel that they are part of the story. A purposeful story is a call to action.
How? Guber offers a plethora of stories to demonstrate how we use stories and on page 37 he offers the following story process:
- Craft the beginning to shine the light on your challenge or problem.
- Shape the middle around the struggle to meet that challenge
- End with a resolution that ignites in the listener your call to action
