The Wave is Coming…
Google wave is a new tool that Google will be launching later this year.
Google Wave is a new model for communication and collaboration on the web, coming later this year. Here is a preview of just some of the elements of this new tool:
- A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
- A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.
- A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.
I will be interested to see the potential links between this new tool and employee engagement. I think it will certainly be a valuable tool for interaction and collaboration. I think Google Wave itself will be engaging based on the early videos I watched on the topic. If you want to learn a bit more about Google Wave, click here.
The video embedded in this post is for developers but I have included it as a sneak peak at the new tool, if you want to catch an early wave. The video is over an hour so you may want to just watch certain parts of it. If the video does not load in this window, you can view it by clicking here.
